Position Summary:

JOB SUMMARY

The Benefits Specialist I provides support to the People Team and other departments throughout the organization providing benefit program administration and benefit analysis support for the organization. This role will be responsible for providing benefit and leave of absence support for team members, day to day benefit changes for team members, the annual benefits open enrollment, and benefits & leave compliance such as ACA, Plan notices, state and federal laws.

JOB REQUIREMENTS


Education

 Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or a related field preferred. High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Work Experience

 1 years of benefit or other human resources experience required.
 Experience using Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint required.
 Health care experience in multi-state analysis preferred.
 Experience in managing and implementing projects and strategic change initiatives preferred.
 Benefits experience required.
 Leave of absence administration preferred.
 Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills required.

Required Licenses/Certifications

 CCP, PHR or SPHR or other Human Resource Certification preferred

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred

HR information systems/database experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assists the employees in enrolling in dental, vision and medical insurance plans.
• Process benefit status changes in HRIS system timely.
• Assist with administration of annual benefits open enrollment and new hire benefits enrollment timely and accurately.
• Provides team members with explanations of benefits and instructing them on enrollment and fulfillment procedures.
• Assists with benefits compliance (ACA, Plan notices).
• Assist with leaves of absence programs in partnership with the company’s leave administrator and disability insurance carrier.
• Using a variety of systems maintains appropriate record-keeping in accordance with FMLA and system guidelines
• Ensures leave cases are administered in accordance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations including FMLA, ADAAA, and HIPPA
• Provides ongoing support for the People Team, benefits, and leave of absence teams.
• Escalates issues with benefit and leave processes and records.
• Projects: Assist the HR team with projects via planning, project management, data gathering and analysis.
• Partnerships: Establishes productive relationships and rapport with customers to gain joint understanding of business goals, strengths, and opportunities providing timely follow up on issues/concerns. This includes being there to listen.
• Field Support: Supports and assists with implementation of People Team initiatives to enhance successful rollout and acceptance throughout the organization. Alerts Manager on high-risk situations that may have an impact on the organization. Provide support for People Team initiatives to assure the successful rollout and acceptance of initiatives, policies, and programs throughout the organization.
• Assists People Team with special projects including spreadsheets for tracking. Special projects include any Compliance related projects or employee engagement projects.
• All other duties as assigned.
