As the Data Governance Specialist, you are at the center of implementing and overseeing GoHealth’s enterprise Data Governance policies, standards, goals, measurement, and processes. Collaborating closely with Business Operations and Data Services leaders, you're instrumental in enhancing the quality and value of enterprise data assets, ensuring they effectively support strategic requirements and operational needs. Your role extends to providing onboarding and training for new members of the groups, Data Owners, and Data Stewards, establishing you as a vital business partner to the entire organization.
Responsibilities
- Assume a pivotal role in establishing an enterprise-wide Data Governance framework, aligning it closely with GoHealth’s business objectives. This involves overseeing, managing, and developing data management strategies, governance policies and procedures, and data quality processes
- Act as an expert advisor to various data owners and leaders, offering critical insights on matters related to Data Governance and management
- Serve as a liaison between teams, ensuring that data-related requirements for governing data are clearly defined, communicated, well understood, and considered in operational prioritization and planning
- Facilitate the development and implementation of data quality standards, data protection standards, and adoption of routines that bolster the entire enterprise
- Drive cross-functional decision-making bodies within the organization, meticulously documenting outcomes and ensuring seamless execution through projects and business-as-usual (BAU) efforts
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to collect, store, and utilize data in a consistent and compliant manner
- Develop and maintain an inventory of enterprise information maps, including authoritative systems and owners
- Measure and monitor data quality, spearhead the root cause analysis (RCA) process, and guarantee remediation and improvement
- Monitor the effectiveness of Data Governance, leveraging both quantitative and qualitative measures, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement
- Represent Data Governance at all levels of the organization, from senior leadership to hands-on contributors, offering data stewards and other stakeholders’ best practices in Data Governance
Position Requirements
- 8+ years’ experience in data, in either a business intelligence or analysis-based environment
- Minimum of 3 years hands-on experience in applying and demonstrating impactful data governance program management in multiple areas such as data standardization processes, data modeling techniques, data dictionaries, data inventorying and cataloging, metadata standards, data warehousing, data analytics, data mining, data integration, data engineering, and business intelligence
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and collaborating with stakeholders at all levels of an organization
- Experience advising on data-driven and evidence-based decision making, from the development of analytics products to advanced analytics and emerging technologies
- Proficiency in SQL/Python and analyzing large data assets - sufficient to lead governance processes and documentation
- Ability to break down complex business problems into meaningful components that are understandable by various levels within the company
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical ideas to business users
- Team player with a strong work ethic and focus on meeting deadlines & objectives.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate critical thinking
- Experience with Atlan, Collibra, or comparable tools preferred
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS, or a related field.
- Proven experience in data governance, data management, or related roles.
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA, DCAM) and methodologies.
- Strong understanding of data privacy regulations and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and platforms (e.g., SQL, Excel, Tableau).
Certifications (Preferred):
- Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)
- Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP)
- Data Governance and Stewardship Professional (DGSP)
