Position Summary:
- Product Strategy & Vision:
- Define and communicate the vision and roadmap for data products, aligning with overall business goals and stakeholder needs.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business objectives, user requirements, and product potential.
- Backlog Management:
- Prioritize the product backlog, ensuring the most valuable features and improvements are delivered first.
- Break down high-level business requirements into detailed stories and actionable tasks for the development team.
- Maintain and refine product backlogs in collaboration with the data engineering and analytics teams.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Serve as the primary point of contact between business stakeholders and the technical team, ensuring clear communication and alignment.
- Conduct regular meetings with stakeholders to gather feedback, address issues, and adjust the product roadmap as needed.
- Development Oversight:
- Guide the data engineering and analytics teams through the product development lifecycle, from concept through delivery.
- Ensure that products are developed according to specifications, within the timeline, and aligned with quality standards.
- Collaborate with the team to refine acceptance criteria and review completed work to ensure it meets the definition of done.
- Data Governance & Quality:
- Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and accessibility of data products.
- Develop and maintain data governance frameworks and policies in collaboration with relevant teams.
- Market & User Research:
- Conduct competitive analysis and market research to identify data product opportunities and gaps.
- Engage with end users to gather feedback, identify pain points, and ensure the product is delivering value.
- Product Metrics & Performance:
- Define and track KPIs for data products, ensuring continuous improvement and optimization based on data insights.
- Present performance reports to leadership, highlighting key metrics, opportunities, and potential risks.
- Innovation & Improvement:
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends in data science, analytics, and technology.
- Identify and recommend new tools, technologies, and methodologies to enhance data products and processes.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
- Experience:
- Proven experience (3+ years) as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or similar role in a data-driven environment.
- Strong background in data engineering, data analytics, or data science.
- Experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Snowflake) and data tools (e.g., SQL, ETL, BI tools).
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Agile methodology and experience managing product backlogs in Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to translate technical details into business terms.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data and make data-driven decisions.
- Familiarity with data governance, data security, and compliance best practices.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience working with cross-functional teams.
- Certification in Agile (e.g., Certified SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager) is a plus.
- Experience working with data products or platforms like Snowflake, BigQuery, or Azure Data Lake.
- Experience in data modeling, API management, and machine learning would be advantageous.
