Position Summary:

JOB SUMMARY

The EMR Training Manager is responsible for overseeing the design, development, and delivery of comprehensive training programs for electronic medical records systems i.e. EPIC, eCW, etc. This role ensures the training programs meet organizational standards, improve end-user proficiency, and promote effective use of EMR systems. The EMR Training Manager will work closely with operational, clinical, and IT Teams to identify training needs, develop instructional materials, and lead a team of trainers to deliver impactful training sessions.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, education, IT, or related field (Master’s Degree preferred) 
Work Experience
  • Minimum 5 years if experience in EMR training, instructional design, or similar role preferred.
  • 3+ years of Epic experience required.
  • 1+ years of supervisory experience required.
Required Licenses/Certifications
  • Epic certification in Cadence Prelude, Ambulatory, and Radiant preferred
  • Project Management certification (CAPM, PMP, PgMP, PfMP, ACP, APM) preferred  
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring a team.
  • Proficiency in EMR systems (i.e. Epic, Cerner, eCW) and knowledge of healthcare workflows.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and organizational levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on continuous improvement. 
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred
  • Epic, Cerner, Athena, and/or eClinicalWorks experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Supervise all members of the Epic training team to ensure consistency, quality and overall success and effectiveness of a sustainable training program.  
  • Responsible for the development and delivery of Epic training curriculum, environments, and classes.  
  • Identify, manage, and schedule any ongoing enhancement, workflow change, and remedial training. 
  • Maintain credential status to ensure that new curriculum is taught. 
  • Partner with operational leadership to incorporate workflows into training curriculum.  
  • Work with communications to publish training schedules and communicate with stakeholders. 
  • Ensuring all credentialed and principle trainers have up to date certifications.  
  • Partnering with credentialed trainers to ensure delivery of end-user training. 
  • Establish and maintain proper internal control throughout the organization. 
  • In collaboration with the senior leadership, this role is responsible for development, recommendations and execution Epic related training stategies that support the organization’s strategic plan. 
  • Implement and evaluate effectiveness of Epic related policies, practices, and procedures in effort to maximize customer focus, efficiency and effectiveness of all departments.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to principle trainers, credential trainers, and other team members, incluing performance review, development, and coaching of team member; accountable for interviewing and selecting new team members.
  • Motivate, mentor, and direct subordinates to ensure that job accountablities are established and met.
  • Provide recommendations for procedures to keep Days of Revenue in AR at acceptable levels. 
  • Prepare monthly accounts receivable data reporting and analytics. 
  • Establish and maintain proper internal control throughout the organization.
  • Up to 50% of travel or more depending on training needs. (Some training classes may occur on the weekends)  
  • All other duties as assigned.
