Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth Urgent Care Increases Access by 30%

Hartford Healthcare GoHealth Urgent Care Ellington and Willimantic opening

Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth Urgent Care celebrated the opening of two new centers in Ellington and Willimantic, which provide people in Connecticut with easier access to affordable, world-class healthcare.

The Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth network has added eight new centers across Connecticut in the past year. The recent openings in eastern Connecticut follow openings in Meriden, Derby, Southington, North Haven, Old Saybrook and Cromwell earlier this year.

"We continue to advance the model of on-demand healthcare across the state,” said Jeffrey A. Flaks, president and CEO, Hartford HealthCare. “Embedding this type of access to world-class, non-emergent care directly into communities is a game-changing, cost-effective solution. Making healthcare more convenient and affordable is what drives us to continuously innovate and expand our services – ensuring everyone has access to high-quality care throughout Connecticut.”

New centers opened last week in:

  • Ellington, at 135 West Road, Suite I, near Big Y World Class Market and Lucky Nails.
  • Willimantic, at 1315 Main Street, Suite 3, near Planet Fitness and Dollar Tree, and about a mile from Eastern Connecticut State University.

“Our newest locations allow more patients easy access to affordable healthcare where they live,” said Eric Walsh, MD, medical director, Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth Urgent Care. “Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth continues to invest in patient-centered, neighborhood locations like these and we look forward to serving more communities across Connecticut.”

Seamless neighborhood access to trusted on-demand care

At the centers, Hartford HealthCare providers offer treatment for non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries, on-site X-ray services and diagnostic testing. The centers are open 365 days a year, including holidays, with regular hours from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.

Like all Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth locations, the new centers provide the community with a more affordable option for safe and efficient care without sacrificing quality. If a patient requires further care, the centers are a direct connection to the health system’s robust network of care.

Community commitment

The opening of these Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth locations is part of a larger story of Hartford HealthCare’s commitment to providing quality care to the largely rural communities in the northeast corner of the state. In the past year, the system has:

  • Added clinical experts in cancer, surgery, cardiology, neurology, pulmonology and stroke across the region.
  • Introduced new ways to access medical advice and care through retail health locations like these Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth Urgent Care centers.
  • Created opportunities for people interested in healthcare careers with a new Bachelor of Science in nursing program at Eastern Connecticut State University.
  • Begun construction on a state-of-the-art simulation facility at Windham Hospital that will provide sophisticated clinical training typically only available at medical schools.
  • Opened The Ridge Recovery Center, a unique in-patient substance use treatment facility in Windham.
